this isn't my experience... the moment that i knew the mockingbird was the many-tongued mimic (mimus polyglottus) and the pest starling was sturnus vulgaris, i loved them more, saw them more, listened to them more.... agree with the heart of the line, i.e. knowledge can murder fascination, but not with the birds.... HI ANG! i'm sitting in a coffee shop in joburg with my cousin jenny, heading to zimbabwe tonight....
